I'm not seeing many mentions of this guys role in recruiting before he left, including a certain qb named stone.

for greener pastures and more $s. Lashlee is a safe and mediocre hire. SMU is never a final destination for any coach so we shouldn’t be crying in our beer when the coaching carousel continues every three years or so.

What is confusing is that it isn't more money and that pasture is full of turds. Yes the toads are P5 (just barely) but everything else is a break even at best. At least Chad left for a SEC team that had potential. I don't know if Lashlee is a good guy or not. He has some OC experience that is impressive and knows SMU. Other than luring Saban from Bama what would have been a better hire? A G5 head coach? A different OC or DC? A fired P5 coach like a washed up Patterson? (Still need to fire Hart.)

I would think he would recruit solid secondary players as well.

I was hoping to see the announcement first thing this morning. SD shouldn’t be allowed back on campus and RL needs to get here ASAP.

S-mom, like you I was expecting an announcement early today. However, after lil rickey walked down the blvd. yesterday with SD I am not surprised at anything this admin does or does not do.

Expecting anything approximating success with this guy is delusional. Remember the people that hired him are the same people that hired Morris and Dykes; the same people that destroyed the basketball fan base; the same people that let Brown walk and the same people that retain Jankovich to this day.
A long tradition of existence.

I’m confused. Everyone, including Ponyfans, were demanding that our donors throw money at Sonny. Reports suggest that he was offered $4m, increases for his staff and facilities investment. So, we are now critiquing Hart for doing exactly that.

Hart and Turner are not the primary problem and Sonny grabbed a P5 coaching gig, unfortunately with our primary rival. SD probably made his decision that despite our growing success that SMU doesn’t have the business case to be invited. That is not Hart’s and Turner’s fault. Big XII picked bigger schools with large enrollments, which have had demonstrated success on the field. Our progress hasn’t overcome that we remain a private school with a modest fan base.

We are still a brand and, if we continue to have a winning program, we might be a future option for some conference.
