Speed Kills

Postby Pony4Life » Sat Sep 07, 2002 2:28 pm

That's what coaches always say, right?

We have a lot of guys who can run, but we have a few genuine flyers.

Kevin Garrett: SMU's closest thing to a superstar, not worth risking injury by throwing him on the field as a return man.

Johnnie Freeman: Don't think he touched the ball last week, and as I recall, he had one ball thrown way over his head.

Trey Griffin: He got on the field, and had one ball thrown his direction.

Cerdic Vinson: One spectacular catch.

Daniel Francis: The only real speedster who got the ball more than once, but he's still learning. Had 3 catches, and looked close to breaking one.

I hate to sound like the previous coaching staff, but isn't it our obligation to use the weapons we have? When you have kids with wheels like that, we have to get the ball in their hands more.

Speed kills? That's one of my favorite songs!! Image

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR><font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Artist: Bush
Album: Golden State
Song: The People That We Love (Speed Kills) Lyrics

Speed kills coming down the mountain
Speed kills coming down the street
Speed kills your presence of mind
Speed kills if you know what I mean
I got to feel woke up inside again
I got to feel this broke or fix
I got to feel, I got outside myself
I got to feel when I touch your lips

The things we do to the people that we love
The way we brake is it something we can't take
Destroy the world that we took so long to make

We expect to come for some time
I wish us safe from home

To find yourself, in a foreign land
Another refugee, outside a refugee

How's it feel she's coming up roses
How's it feel she's coming up sweet
How's it feel it's all in spite of you
How's it feel when she's out of your reach

What happened to you
What happened to you

The things we do to the people that we love
(repeat)

Isn't Coach Edmondson (off. coor.) supposed to be a passing guy?

I know Tate is young, and Keylon is running his tail off (37 carries?) But are we afraid to use the receivers? Cody Cardwell caught 5 passes last night, and Daniel Francis caught 1.

That means that Jay Taylor, Cedric Vinson, Billy Ford, Johnnie Freeman and Trey Griffin all got shut out. And did the quarterbacks even look at John Hampton last night?

With an offense like that, it's amazing we moved the ball as well as we did. Hats off to Keylon.

John Hampton is the only person Tate looks for. And they aren't afraid to use the receivers, they are afraid to let Tate throw the ball. This protect-the-ball, conservative game they are playing will get you all a losing season. If the coaches dont ever step up and take some chances it could be a dismal year.
