Multiple college football sources confirmed to FootballScoop Saturday that Fleck, Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott and SMU head coach Sonny Dykes are among those coaches being vetted for the Tennessee job. At least one of those coaches and his agent have reached out to gauge interest of assistant coaches around the country in a potential opportunity to join a staff on Rocky Top. https://footballscoop.com/news/sources-clemsons-elliott-big-ten-coach-among-those-vetted-on-rocky-top/

That sounds like Tony Elliott would be the one to gauge interest in assistants across the country. I hope that is the direction they go. We need Sonny to stick around.

I wonder if Tennessee is any smarter than Arkansas. I guess we'll find out.
A long tradition of existence.

Hard to condemn him if he takes it. A premier job. But if he still has a nasty taste in his mouth from the unrealistic U Cal expectations he will be wary of Rockytop. They're a whole 'nother level of delusional.

If Sonny takes the Tennessee job...I wonder if Stallion will start campaigning for President Turner to hire Chad Morris back?

How well did that work out for them last time?

Is there such thing as Bulletin Board Material for coaches? If so can we please send some of these to Sonny?

I think one thing that's going to give Tennessee pause is when Sonny went P5, it didn't go well.

My concern is that they're looking at a throw away coach. Sonny isn't a popular choice but, if they get hit with big sanctions as the are expecting, they don't want to lose their dream coach. Having Sonny as the fall guy for a few bad years and to keep the program going then dump him and hire their Saban after penalties are over might be a long term plan.

During an appearance on 104.5 in Nashville on Monday, ESPN’s Chris Low indicated the interest in Dykes is legitimate on Tennessee’s part.
“I think Sonny Dykes is high on Tennessee’s list,” Low said, via 247Sports. “He’s a bit of a niche offensive guy. His offenses have had a lot of success. He coached in the Power Five. Didn’t have a lot of success at Cal. He had one decent year there. He had some success at Louisiana Tech. I think, when you look at SMU, he’s sort of helped turn that program around. I think they won 10 games two years ago, which is the most they’ve won there since 1984.
“I think he’s a guy that Tennessee is going to look at pretty hard. I’m not saying he’s going to get the job, but he’s certainly in the mix.”
