If this was five years ago Nutt would be a good candidate for Tulane. I'm not sure that is the case anymore.
But that being said their last HC hire was a head-scratcher.

Tulane should hire Nutt and a couple of good young coaches ready to become coordinators.

Unless he was conservative run happy coordinator on offense Nutt would not allow him to do his job. Nutt is pretty much just a rah rah coach.

was with a bunch of South Carolina people last night and talk was that they have not abandoned pursuit of Herman...just that it is being kept quiet right now. What I hear (not sure if reliable) is that Herman is hedging because his "dream job" is Texas so someone threw out the scenario: "what if Tanner (SC's AD) is actually trying to lure Charlie Strong (very popular former SC DC) away from Texas?" Strong's relationships in south Florida could help SC's recruiting. I thought that scenario was at least interesting, with Herman to backfill behind Strong at Texas. Tanner is only saying he expects to name a new coach sometime next week with Muschamp, Riley and Rich Rod reportedly interviewing now.
