Attendance

i think people overestimate the blvd attendance unless its homecoming. Opening of Ford was pretty good, other than that - not many good crowds other than TCU or other big schools. I would say a tad more than usual - 18-20k with real attendance.

I hope we have a good turnout for the spring game. I guess that will be the first indicator.

Attendance

Postby TidePony » Sat Apr 04, 2015 10:00 am

What was our average attendance over the last three years? I know the ice game killed us and well all of last year, I'm hoping next year we some how can average above 22,000 (and I know that may well be really high).

I'll be at the Spring game for sure, looking forward to seeing this tempo business for myself. Hopefully we have a couple thousand people there.

I predict there will a lot more guys named "Coach" in Ford Stadium next year. Might be fun to yell Coach!!! into the crowd and watch them all turn their heads.

You know we do have a pretty good comparison-attendance at Moody in Brown's first year

If there were ACTUALLY 15,000 in the stands consistently then that would be a great start.

We averaged around 2500 or so in Moody year 1...which would be around 35% of capacity in New Moody. At Ford we can expect around 11,200 or 35% capacity real attendance this first year, not counting BU game.

Year 2, we averaged around 5,500 or 78% of capacity. If we translate that to Ford, it would be 24,960 for year 2 if we follow year 1 with a very strong recruiting class within the 50-60 range or better, a few key recruits (Brown's class of SB, KF, BM, YM equivalent in football would be getting one or two 4 stars and the rest solid 3 stars with more 3 stars than 2 stars), a bowl season in year one or close. It is doable, I think sports attendance makes more sense if it is looker at in percentage of capacity than actual numbers themselves. Our target should be to at least have GFS at more than 50% capacity this year, which is 16,000 real attendance.

I think pony boss just won this thread.

I'd expect more just due to interest/popularity of hccm but nothing too dramatic unless we pull some kind of major upset. Just need a solid year followed by an amazing 16 class and the momentum will increase the attendance in year 2. 50% would be great in year 1.

Thank you. So in LB's 1st year we reached the 50% capacity mark...I thought it was less than 3000 in the first year for some reason.

Don't forget moody was around 8500 capacity that year.

Moody's capacity was 8,998 in Larry's first year. Does the 2013-14 figure include the games in Garland? We had a bunch of sellouts once we were back at Moody for conference play.

Or, it would have been 8,998 had the wooden student bleachers still been able to pull out all the way

That 2013-14 figure includes Garland

Well, I'm working on the new ad campaign.
It starts with "Be A Better Athletic Supporter."
And then the next line is something clever to support that.
