As everyone wallows in misery with the suggestion Aresco and AAC leadership is on the verge of watering down our conference, I suggest you tune in tomorrow night to watch a little of the Coastal Carolina vs App State SunBelt game. Those teams have agreed to play on a Wednesday night to get some attention and I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest the environment in that little stadium in Boone, NC will surpass anything SMU will see until we visit Cincinnati tis year. Thankfully that game will be in Cincy as it still hurts to remember undefeated and 9th ranked Cincy coming to Ford last year to play the # 16 Mustangs in front of 8,000 SMU faithful.

Cincy-SMU 2020 in Dallas does not really count as a normal atmosphere game, since most people I know were avoiding attending because of COVID.

Run the slate and a Championship game in Dallas would be a sell out, with a crazy crowd.

I would hope so but would not bet on it. Absent Covid restrictions, I doubt last year's Cincy game would have drawn more than 20k. I'm having flashbacks to the rematch with UCF at Ford that basically caused JJ to check out.

That's a fair assessment. The UCF game was an embarrassment.

JJ built no local following or DISD interest. Sonny is slowly building the Dallas brand and culture. If Sonny stays, the full realization of his impact might be 1-2 more years. This town loves winners.
