I would be much happier to hear 40%-40% with 20% just college football fans.

So you want less SMU fans who have been wandering in the wilderness b/c of 25 years of complete garbage for the casual fan that will be less likely to stay engaged throughout the year/subsequent future years? Not sure I follow that logic. BTW, we've had nearly 2,000 new full season ticket holders from last year. That is coming off a 1-11 season that was truly historically bad. Our alums/fans WANT to give us a chance. Chad Morris personifies the best chance of this actually happening in the last 30 years.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Some people just like to argue huh. No, I want to see people with no ties to our school come to the game and be sold on the experience and develop into fans. That way the next time it might be 60-40 or 70-30 SMU.

agreed. I pulled for SMU because it was the "local" school...long before I ever decided to attend SMU. Of course, I also pulled for Texas back then because it was "my state's school". Would love to see more casual DFW sports enthusiasts adopt SMU.

If you look around the country at the typical person who attends college football games I think you'll find the following:
Male aged 30-50 with children.
If you are a graduate of SMU and fall in that age range you have been ignored by your university for nearly the entirety of your college and post college years. Here is what you can say about your alma mater and its football program since 1990:
0 weeks in the Top 25 7 seasons of 1 win 1 season of 0 wins Only former SWC school to fail to reach 9 plus wins in a season 12 seasons of 3 wins or fewer 5 consecutive years of 0 wins on the road in conference play 1 win against a ranked opponent on the road in 25 years 1 win against a ranked opponent at home in 25 years 20 of 25 seasons below .500
You can throw our alumni and fans into the garbage heap if you want but I dare you to find another program in the country that has suffered like ours. Add to that we are a relatively small, private school in the middle of a pro sports town and I'm frankly amazed we are able to generate any alumni interest at all given how little we reward our fans. Thank you a million times over to those of you who are keeping us afloat.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I certainly would like nothing but SMU alums in the stands but I do not think that is feasible. I feel we need to attract the Dallas community to join in our game day extravaganza.

SMT, don't forget to thank footballdad, after all, where would we be without him?

Lot's of tickets remain on secondary markets.
