They didnt, and they didn't convert.

The argument for going for it is that you are so close to the TD. If you score a TD and get the two point conversion then next drive you only have to get close enough for a field goal, which takes less time than having to score a TD, especially when they know you have to score a TD.

While going for the TD on the initial drive risks basically ending the game right then and kicking the fg keeps the game alive longer, that does not mean that the latter increases your chances of winning necessarily.

I get your point. It's kinda like when a team is down 15, you know you need a 2 point conversion on either score late in game, but they always want to crucify the coach when he goes for it and fails on the first td. Which actually I kinda agree with it, seems to be a little less pressure on the offense when you do it early.
