I always looked forward to a JohnnyUtah post.

And blame JJ for setting us back a few years, not the AD. We're on the right track.

I've always enjoy the: let's schedule crappy teams for OOC so we can be on their level as well. It's sad how people think like that. Probably the same group of people who take participation trophies seriously.

Sorry lads but Texas Wesleyan University is the ping pong school. They won their 12th national title in the last 13 years this year.

SMU needs to continue to play Baylor & TCU. I thought they had a chance to split this year but I was wrong. Still too young and not enough talented depth. Baylor should be on way down. I think you will see a decline at Houston after this year when Herman leaves. Texas and Texas A&M will always be the strongholds on recruiting. TCU probably be next. I can see SMU moving up to compete with the other Schools in the state very soon. You don't get there playing a real weak Schedule. I will say I don't understand playing Michigan.

You don't get their by playing a body bag schedule either. You get there by recruiting better players. Patterson that he got TCU there by scheduling 2 winnable games, 1 50/50 game and 1 stretch game. Since we don't play Baylor next year we should replace them with a team like Iowa St, Wake Forest or Vanderbilt.

Was that ever confirmed? I thought it was just one guy that said he didn't think we were going to be paid.

I guess our craptacular 2017 OOC schedule qualifies.

SFA-winnable
NTSU-winnable
TCU-stretch
Ark State-50/50

Good OOC schedule to build team confidence.

They need to schedule larger P5 schools not know for their FB prowess, not smaller academic schools such as Nortwestern, Wake or Vandy.

Purdue, Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina and Colorado come to mind.

Uh, is that the Colorado that beat OREGON last week 41-38?

Yes, Texas State, UNT and Arkansas State along with TCU should be our non-conference schedule for the foreseeable future to allow the team to get wins and make it easier to get to a bowl game. I have no problem adding another tough non-conference game if and when the team gets closer to top 20 like status. I am tired of watching the same season repeat over and over.

Games are normally scheduled 8-10 years in advance. Who knows what the quality of a team might be that far in advance. JJ was the one who was to build the program and yet in his 7th year we had to cancel out Baylor because we could not compete. Uncertainty comes in various means and in both directions.
