Like Mrydel I cannot make the Tulane game. I have 2 tickets on the 50 and a parking pass for anyone that wants them. Let me know.

Basically what I was going to do for Tulane. That and I hate to ever miss Senior Day. But leaving between 4 and 5 am to begin a 10 hour round trip just doesn’t compute.

Mrydel, it would still be a tough trip and more expensive, but at the moment, there is a 5:45 a.m. SWA flight from Little Rock to Love Field that arrives at 6:55 a.m., and there is nonstop return from Love Field to Little Rock leaving at 10:15 p.m. on Saturday November 25. Looks like the total round trip fare is $306.

I looked at that already. It does not make sense. I could drive for 5 times less and get home sooner. With family here for Thanksgiving it is tough to justify the trip.

If it was my family that would be more than enough TO justify the trip.

But, I am certain your family loves you very much. So, if you asked, I am sure they would readily sign up for a 5 a.m. departure to watch a meaningless game between two teams they care nothing about, with a five hour drive home for added fun! :)

Does each come with a Ulysses S. Grant?

Did the California Northridge game mentioned above have the the smallest number of fans ever for an SMU game in the Cotton Bowl? Had wanted to see the Rice game that year because IIRC it was the last against an opponent that had been a traditional rival during my lifetime, but that did not work out, so Northridge.

My time watching SMU started at Ownby. My father took me to a game or two there in Doak Walker's day. And, as I've written before, we went to the '49 Notre Dame game: I saw on of the biggest as well a tiny SMU crowds in the Cotton Bowl.

So far as that Northridge game is concerned I may have been at a spring games in Ownby with more fans.

I won't be in Dallas eleven days from now but by this time on that day will have watched whatever TV coverage is offered.

I've been to each of the following-to hard to tell but I's rate them:
1. Fresno St (but that was a weekday nite game I believe so it was [deleted] cross-town traffic)
2. Rice
3. Northridge

Seems like the weather was beautiful for all 3

Not including the Ice Bowl against UCF

Northbridge might have been the lowest announced attendance (think it was about 6,000) but Ice Bowl against UCF may have had the fewest actual butts in seats. Attendance looks bad in Ford but not nearly as bad as it did in the Cotton Bowl

That UCF game was so much fun though! Total lifetime memory.

Some of those Cotton Bowls were just flat out embarrassing.

Glad we are back on campus to avoid disasters like that, although I will never understand going to college and having football games on campus and not attending. It just doesn't compute..
