north tx is really an absolute "must win"
because if we lose to North Tx State
we could very easily go 0-4

North Tx State LOSS
Tcu LOSS
Michigan LOSS
Navy LOSS

Like a blind dyslexic squirrel, you guys are Nucking Futs!! It's the first game of the season - how can it be a must win? Are we in some sort of best of series where we have to win all 12 games? Are you guys positioning to be the first one to make the "Fire Sonny" post if we should lose?

Answering questions in order:
1. Some appear to be...that changes nothing about the NTSU outcome...it is who we are.
2. Unless we are JJ disciples and have "penciled-in" a loss, we should expect to win.
3. YES
4. That post generally first appears in October..

smitty329, this is done in jest...but I DO think the "next game" is the most important game, especially after the Frisco Fiasco.

We win by 10

Yeah - just tough to read the negativity sometimes on PONYFROWNS.COM - I would hope fans are more optimistic. Last I checked the scoreboard starts at 0 - 0, not with the vegas spread.

LOL@mtrout...

in Chad's three years at SMU did he recruit a single decent cornerback besides Jordan Wyatt?

Wrong..... Jordan Wyatt is a June Jones recruit.

  This has got to be the dumbest hot sports take ever put down on this forum.

In what universe would ANY HC stay at an AAC SMU at $2 million per w/an admin that is dragging their feet on an indoor facility that over 70 LOCAL high schools already have over going to an SEC Arkansas for $3.5 million and a seemingly endless will (and ability) to improve all facets of the programs infrastructure from the Pig admin?

You can't name one HC that would stay b/c there are none.

Never mind the mental gymnastics some of you are doing to try and force yourself to believe Morris somehow left the program in worse shape than a guy who straight up refused to leave campus to recruit.

Uh?
Strawman alert.
Who is saying Chad should have stayed?
I am 100% THRILLED Chad "14-22" Morris is gone, gone, gone!
I am very happy he can go "used car" Arkansas now.
He needed to bail before his sheet coaching/recruiting was exposed
Great Recruiter?
yeah we see and will see the results of that great recruiting!
Again you cant have it both ways....
great recruiter/coach but suck?

When you say that he bailed and got outta dodge as fast as he could you are implying he thought the team was going to be so awful he took the first job that offered. That is just not true.

Also, no matter how much you try and claim otherwise he left the program in a better place than June. The fact that North Texas lucked out when they hired Littrell and have improved to the point they aren't an auto win has NOTHING to do with Morris.

It's been explained in here many times why it shouldn't be a surprise that a team w/a brand new HC is not favored on the road to one that has nearly everybody back but if you want to just keep your head in the sand by all means keep on looking like a know nothing.

Wyatt was a June Jones recruit in the 2014 class, along with Courtland Sutton and Evan Brown.

It will be interesting to see how many, if any, of Chad's recruits turn out to be as good as the 'terrible recruiter' June Jones' guys.

Stallion has brainwashed 75% of the board into believing Chad was something extraordinary!

I'd hold off on this criticism. Eric, Davis, and KJ have shown some ability in their SMU career, and still have time to stand out.

Why do we have to schedule power houses like NTSU? Why can't we do like Baylor and schedule Abilene Christian or Liberty Bible College?

HCCM gave SMU football a pulse. He then gave SMU the finger and moved on. Goodbye. Good luck.
I don't think we're as "bare bones" as some may think. HCSD seems to be on track with continuing the positive build. Brought in some experienced coordinators and a BEAST strength & conditioning coach. The players we saw in December now look completely different physically. Recruiting is going great. Bringing in sufficient amount of immediate talent and depth.

UNT is competitive..... but no powerhouse LOL. Prediction:
We're going to see the same outcome vs UNT as we've seen over past two years. SMU should not have an issue stacking up points vs UNT defense. Of course, no Sutton or Quinn, but I think we close the gap with run game production.

This may be the best SMU defensive that Litrell and company has faced. If those LBs play as fast, hungry, and intense as we saw in Spring ball, look out! Also, with the GTs and beefed up DL, we should see more unit consistency up front (as opposed to just the "Lawler show"). Fine is a good QB and can be dangerous, but I do think the defense will surprise the Meanie Greenie.

SMU still has the talent edge.
SMU will win this game. Future is bright. Don't worry...be happy

This is getting tiresome-his coaching resume proves otherwise

Fact-At every job Chad Morris made eye-opening improvement in Year 1 proving all this used-car salesman [deleted] is really just SMU fans acting like "whinny little [deleted]"

After jumping from Texas 6A high school football to Tulsa's offensive coordinator in 2010, he improved the Golden Hurricane from 29.3 points per game to a conference-leading 41.4 PPG in his first year. +12.1

In his first year at Clemson, he inherited an offense that had been 10th in the ACC in scoring (24.0 PPG). He installed his offense in Year 1 and took them to second in the league (33.6 PPG). (In his second year the Tigers led the ACC at 41.0 PPG.) . +17

At SMU, Morris took over an offense that averaged an embarrassing 11.1 PPG the year before his arrival. That went to 27.8 in his first year, 27.7 in his second year, and then jumped to 37.8 PPG in 2017 finishing 15th in the nation in total offense. +26.7

Guy can't coach?

Guy and Dolls... Its late and I just got back from Orange Beach Florida.

We are WAY better off now than when "the one that shall not be named" left. That jerk took off the last two years before he moved out.

Yes, CM sold a bunch of Blue sky and sunshine.... We all need blue sky and sunshine. ( Florida)

Nuclear Engineer is what our new coach got his degree to do. Well, we have received a plethora of JUCO and Grad transfers helping our mustangs pull the WINNING wagon. I see the new High School commitments and think... This Dykes guy has some connections. AND knows how to build a COMPLETE team.

Question: How long did Moses wonder to desert?

We are due for a right minded, right moral, right educated coach ... That WANTS to build something great.

BUILD SMU GREAT AGAIN.

The last guy that used that slogan is doing GREAT THINGS.

No, libtard reaction.. this is football. And you did not play past 6th grade.
That should get the juices flowing!
