I accidentally wandered into the Uconn Spring Game Festivities (Cabelas is within 400 yards of the stadium) yesterday. Supposedly, they had around 5,000 people there. From the parking lot, that might not be wrong. Selling beer and the first decent weather of 2015 probably helped them out.

Not to go on a tangent, but I sure hope UConn's program improves and becomes very competitive. They have a good coach and there is really no competition in their region like there is here.

I saw in the Little Rock paper this AM that Arkansas had only 1,500 at their Spring Game yesterday FWIW.

You might want to check that. Their spring game is scheduled for April 25, so it may have been an open practice or something

Correct. UA spring game is the 25th. It will have a large draw. Most of their practices are closed.

Maybe I misread the paper....it WAS UA....but I guess was a tune up for the final game. A long weekend in Hot Springs....so I am about as sharp as a marble today. ;-(

I was just a Saturday scrimmage. They have all closed practice during the week and it has made all the fans mad that they cannot go and rub shoulders with the players during practice so many are boycotting the scrimmages. I guess they think that will hurt the coach's feelings.

Unless they figure out a way into the ACC, I predict they give up on D1 football within 10 years. There is zero talent in the Northeast and they can't figure out how to get good talent from elsewhere.

It seemed like Houston Nutt came to a similar conclusion when he was inquiring about the level of in-state talent. UConn upgraded to D1-A in 2000 after pressure from the Big East. Given the struggles the AAC has getting teams into March Madness, it wouldn't surprise me if there is a large alumni push to downgrade football and get basketball back into the Big East.
