SMU is stuck up. Small, exclusive, elite, uninviting atmosphere in which Joe Average has zero interest.

Bergermeister, If you are correct I guess I'll quite inviting my friends to come to games. By the way, one of friends, my best man at my wedding who lives in HP, loves athletics and will not go to an SMU game; also invited two District Judges that are SMU graduates and a couple of other SMU grads to name a few. I'm also trying to connect with two old friends that played football for SMU. So far one says he'll be at some games and one I can't get a response from. None of these friends are average Joes in my opinion. But, responses like the one you gave me above says SMU does not want SMU fans. I am discouraged.

If it wasn't 40k, someone from SMU would have posted the correct price here already.

Side note regarding the blvd. Golf buddy of mine told me when he moved to D a few years ago he visited for a game not knowing anybody. He says he wandered around and chatted with a bunch of fans who gave him food and beer. He had so much fun he comes back for a few games every year. If we start winning these types will migrate to the stands, too. We have a good thing.

if you go to the blvd and manage to not have a great time, that says more about you than it does about SMU. Walking down Bishop on a nice day is a beautiful thing - everyone is friendly regardless of affiliation, the students are fun, and it is a really special game day experience. If you have an inferiority complex and are looking to be dissed you will always find a way.

I try to give away tickets to every home game to people who would not normally attend SMU events of any kind. Joe Average and his family. Most of the time the tickets go unused despite the fact that they are pretty good seats. The primary reasons they are hard to give away:

1. They would rather stay home and watch Big 12 or SEC on TV. We don't play attractive teams.
2. Too many 11:00 am games. They have errands to run and things to do on Saturday a.m.
3. They are not familiar with the Park Cities and don't want to hassle with finding parking.

That's the list. I dropped down to four this year because I couldn't find homes for the extras (though mine weren't likely as good as yours).

So far, it looks like four evening games this year and three games with kickoff times not yet determined. So excuse No. 2 shouldn't apply (for more than half of the home schedule, anyway).

Not able to find parking? I find that hard to believe, there is parking all around campus for $20 on the outer garages and you can park in mockingbird station for free.

And for #1 what they are really saying is SMU's team sucks...because I'll bet you anything those buddies of yours will do anything to score SMU vs midwestern state tickets in basketball.
