Recruiting an active member of another team who's not on the portal is worse than "stealing recruits" out of HS.

According to a piece on ESPN from April, over 6000 players entered the transfer portal...2179 in December. Yet, SMU is the only school breaking some "unwritten rule"? Sounds like the 80's all over again.

I could care less if this kid transferred to SMU....he will probably leave SMU as soon as he doesn't get enough targets or as soon as a bigger offer arrives. That, unfortunately, is what college football has become. In the same way that players are always looking for the better offer, same goes with coaches, and for TCU to call out SMU over this is pure comedy after their handling of the Dykes fiasco.

We are in a new era where its apparently OK for a conference to openly campaign for the demise of another conference, hire a coach away during the season, etc., but when a kid transfers we throw a temper tantrum, pick up our toys and run home.

Exactly. Does anyone believe schools aren't going back after players who "got away" during their initial recruitment? NIL has created a mess but at least SMU can be competitive again in the world of NCAA athletics today and Sonny/TCU helped motivate SMU's BMDs so deal with it. Remember also that Jordan Hudson was a Dallas kid who was "staying home" until Sonny lured him away.

I have no problem with "me" people that make no apologies for it. The pernicious personality is the "me" person that masquerades as a "we" person. Sonny is the latter, and that personality is always revealed in time.

Add to that the coaches who are paid in the Millions of $$ every season complaining about NIL.

Prolly would have been a good idea to spend a little of that money in the past 20 years to get your team up to snuff...

Making your own success instead of whining about somebody else keeping you down...

OK, so SMU recruited Jordan Hudson away from TCU. So what? The recruiting issue is just a big red herring. TCU's AD seems to have been honest the other day when he said dropping SMU from the schedule was a way to schedule more home games $$$. Also an easier path to the playoff. Recruiting has nothing to do with it.

Easier path to the playoffs? Don't kid yourself on that one. Replacing SMU with games against Top 10 teams (you might be able to schedule home/home series with) if you can win those games might help your resume. Home games against weaker opponents who will accept small checks to help TCU make $$, win games and not demand home/home series won't help get you to the playoffs. You'll just have to win the Big XII or whatever the new conference might be called to earn a spot, because you will not earn a "wild card" spot in the expanded playoffs with that strategy.

U of Alabama's home schedule includes Middle Tennessee, South Florida and Chattanooga. Just sayin'

Lol. Know who’s not on that Alabama schedule? Houston, Kansas, and the rest of the “Big” 12. TCU, of course, is not Alabama.

Beating us, a school with a winning record helped get them into the playoffs. If they schedule real patsies they will have to win the Big XII to get in.

Everyone should remember that TCU is afraid to have SMU compete on equal footing in sports so has blackballed us from the B12. SMU is an academically superior school, and as the only other main private school in the metroplex, this leads to their inferiority complex. The B12 had value with Texas and OU as part of it. Now, the conference is full of mid-tier schools. Let’s win our conference this year and trade from the new little B12. We deserve better and we are now positioned to achieve it.

We might be blackballed...or we might have been outperformed by TCU, Houston, Cincinnati, UCF, and BYU. Basically every school they took recently except Colorado.

It’s a fact we were. I will be the first to call you out as a TCU impostor that you are. Your comments are so obvious.

And if you knew anything, decisions on schools to bring in are not just based on some one-season wonders like the ones that UCF, Cincy and Houston had, but rather on what what do schools bring to the table moving forward. As of now, SMU is better positioned than all of those three schools. That’s precisely one of the things that made Colorado interesting - their upside with Deion at the helm. If for nothing else, SMU is a good choice just as a defensive strategy to prevent other conferences from coming in with presence into DFW and Texas when they come to play games at SMU. It’s like when you buy a stock, you don’t buy it based on where it’s been (that’s buying it overvalued) but on rather where you think it will go, and SMU in a P5 conference has much more upside than any of the other schools. So you can openly drink your purple kool-aid out in the open now.

Reality hurts, but SMU self imposed a continuing death penalty long after we were free to compete again with our former conference mates. We showed signs of life during the JJ era but only in these past few years and especially with the advent of NIL has SMU shown it has the will to compete at a P5 level. There's a lot of TCU bashing going on but there is also understandably a lot of jealousy given the success the frogs have enjoyed in both football and now basketball as well. All of those incoming Big XII schools have simply out performed SMU on the field and court in recent years but hopefully that will change starting this year.
