HEY! That's my line!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the quick kick. I can't argue the fact that it definitely is NOT a thing of beauty -- Phillips/Eckert/Romo aren't going to make anyone forget Ray Guy, or even Anthony Scotti, but punting isn't a beauty contest. We could hold up a sign saying "HERE COMES THE QUICK KICK" and it still could be effective. If it's kicked in such a way that we get the end-over-end roll, it can work even if it never gets 10 feet off the ground. By lining up under center and then dropping back for the quick kick, we force the other team to line up as if they're going to defend it.

Okay, PonyGrad, if we're going to skew the stats on mediocre punting by the QB's, then let's check the stats on the kicker/punters ("K"/"P") v. their offensive output...

[1] No K/P has thrown an interception in 2004, while QB's have 5 Int ;

[2] The K/P = the QB in TD's passes for 2004... zero.

Thus, using the PonyGrad logic, Mentzel should start at QB v. SJSU!?!?!
