KG says he's in perfect health. He said the knee basically didn't bother him during the spring (he had what he called a "minor tear of the meniscus" that he suffered when he landed wrong during a pick-up basketball game last winter.) But the coaches held him out of spring scrimmages and most drills as a precaution. He said he ran and lifted weights hard over the summer, and said he was clocked at 4.26 in the 40-yard dash and had a vertical jump of about 33 or 34 inches. Wow.

He also sounds really comfortable with the spring performances of some of the other DB's, like Jonas Rutledge, James Orr and Leroy Price. He even said he expects teams to test our young secondary - and he was looking forward to the challenge.

This is great to hear about KG. He is a great guy and an awesome football player. I had heard he ran a 4.26 40, but to hear it from his mouth solidifies the rumor. I can't wait to see #1 in action. He is going to have an awesome season.

KG says he wants to be tested? Good - we need that kind of confidence from our players, especially in our DB's.

Good news: KG will get his wish. He and his buddies in the secondary will be tested, and tested a lot. Even though we're young back there, we should be OK. KG and Jonas give us the best pair of corners we've had in years, and based on what I saw in the spring, Leroy Price is going to be a stud at safety. If James Orr can hold up at the other safety spot, we're going to have a young, talented secondary. It's already the fastest group we've had in a dozen years or more....
