You left off DL Jerry Ball...and I'm sure no one will think you should include Luke Johnson

Damn, how did I forget Jerry Ball and the Carters - Michael and Russell?
Sorry - been a long day.
And I know my Luke Johnson offering will get mocked, as will my Bordano selection. But dammit, they were very good players. I'd take them both today - in a heartbeat.

Nobody since 1989 belongs anywhere close to that team that I'm sure of. Raymond Berry didn't have an unusually productive college career. Might want to take him out and add Oscar Roan as a TE. Emmanuel Tolbert was the second best receiver at SMU that I've seen. Harvey Armstrong was clearly a better college DT than Michael Carter so was Jerry Ball. I'd find a place for Kyle Rote. Henry Sheppard belongs in that group as an OLM. John Simmons probably had the best senior season of any CB in SMU history plus 17 career Ints and was clearly better than Rod Jones. Robert Polpelka deserves consideration at S. Russell Carter definitely is one of the top DBs either at CB or S-had an SMU best 18 career INTs. If there is any spot open on the football team among any of the 22 positions just put Gary Hammond in there and he'd be All-Conference. BTW every one of nominees above were All-Americans except Hammond who was 2 time consensus All-SWC and excelled at 3 different positions and Henry Sheppard a 2 time All-SWC LM.

You have to include Rote by putting three backs on the all-SMU team. That would also mean taking Raymond Berry off the list. Berry was all-SWC in 1954 and a great pro, but in the annals of SMU football he just does not deserve to be on an all-time SMU list.

When you think about the backs that could be on that list it's daunting: Wayne Morris, Frank Eidom, Alvin Maxson, Mike Richardson, Craig James, Reggie Dupard not to mention Bobby Wilson... sheesh!

I totally agree with Stallion about Henry Sheppard. He was just a great.

Oh yeah, don't forget about Emmanuel Tolbert at receiver. I'd put him ahead of Morris.

One might want to add [deleted] Hightower (All-American) at center and Bill Forester to the OL. One might also argue that Chuck Hixson needs a nod in this hypothetical lineup.
