Red River Shootout name changehttp://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mp ... bc/3305696
Now called the Red River Rivalry. Score another victory for political correctness and the pussification of America. And we wonder why the terrorists thing we are weak.
Holy crud! It's the friggin' UT [deleted] and OU [deleted]! I don't give a damn! [deleted] 'em!!!!!!!
Heard about this. Who really gives a crap.
Woo Woo We decided we werent being talked about enough so we decided to make more news by changing our rivalry name. OO YEA! *rolls eyes* Like MM65 says....F 'Em
Ask Stallion. He seems to have the 'upper hand' on this subject.
Gay.
And I care about it, it is still college football! And I heard they are changing the name of our SMU/TCU game: "Battle for the Iron Skillet" To violent, Battle is a harsh word, changing it to: "Struggle for the Dense Skillet" But after last year it should be called the "TCU Showcase Classic".....last year was miserable. Longest drive home.....ever. ihatetcu
Gay, (not that there's anything wrong with that). This political correctness BS makes me want to hurl. It doesn't surprise me though that those liberal flakes in Austin would bow to any pressure whatsoever from possibly hurting someone's feelings by using the word shootout in referring to a football game. To dredge up another old post subject, (and yes this is football that affects SMU), the DMN yesterday had a quote from someone that Tech and the Aggies were looking to start playing in the Cotton Bowl in 2007.
Actually, chalk this one up to SBC wanting to have more control over the naming rights and profits generated by the game by naming it something "unique." Personally, I think it's a horrible name change. It sounds like something Astro from the Jetsons would come up with. Official Cult of Chris Phillips Member
"First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a communist; Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a socialist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me— and there was no one left to speak out for me." You should care because next they may come after us. How about Peruna? That name came from evil alcohol. I don't think that is appropriate for a institution of learning!
Oh, alright. If you insist!
I just love it!!!
Why would anyone question it anyway? You're talking about two of the most liberal-socialistic 'institutions in the southwest anyways - What would you expect!!!??? Its funny how so 'few' can call the shots while the vast majority have no voice (or sit on the sidelines) - We are quickly becoming a country of wimps! BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Gayness gone wild. I still haven't forgiven Abe Pollin for changing the name of his basketball team from the Bullets to the Wizards. Haven't gone to a game since they changed the name. That was the start. Then he stuck that stupid bird on the Caps jerseys and changed the colors to copper and blue from red, white and blue. Speaking of gays, I note that the Church of England is now going to allow gay priests to for the British equivalent of civil unions, despite church doctrine that used to prohibit that sort of thing. The world she be a changin'.
