DMN: Running Backs Start Strong in Scrimmage

Postby MrMustang1965 » Fri Aug 12, 2005 1:31 am

UNIVERSITY PARK – In the team's first scrimmage, three running backs – Cedrick Dorsey, Richuel Massey and DeMyron Martin (Allen) – had long runs and hit the holes. Most of the running backs are getting snaps with the first-team offense. Third-string quarterback Chris Phillips had his best session of camp Thursday night by completing passes in traffic and finding open receivers.

I watched a little of practice through the fence the earlier this week, and I was impressed by how tough Fred Turner was running inside. He's still a really slender guy, but he's not timid, that's for sure.
And yes, he is as fast as advertised.

it doesnt surprise me that Phillips had his best day of camp in a scrimmage setting. The guy competes and make plays.

As Lee Corso says every 5 minutes in EA Sports NCAA Football 06, "Go out there and compete. Be a competitor."

Can anyone conceive a more generic statement than that?

would love for phillips to light it up! I don't think baylor could contain his run if he is making completions.

Anyone go to the scrimmage last night, the paper made it sound like it was open to the public b/c it only said Saturdays was closed.

The one that always kills me is "we're going to take it one game at a time." When do you play MORE than one game at a time?
