I would assert that the Pony Express was the best two back tandem in all of college football. Eric Dickerson and Craig James, it just does not get any better.

the choice of a lot of people as the Greatest Game in SMU History-not mine-finishes 22nd? Beating Division 2 UConn is apparently greater than beating No. 2 Texas before 78,000 in Austin? Somebody get a rope!

Ponyte:

I noticed a mention of Clement Fox in the article as throwing a clearing block on "the pitch". You know him don't you?

I promise you: "Miracle on Mockingbird" will crack the top 10, so you'd might as well brace yourself.

I was there for the Texas game and it was simply unbelievable. Nobody thought SMU would win. I truly think that this game was one of the best ever.

Oh hell I wouldn't be surprised it was no. 1 with the stupidity of this entire list.

That pitch is my all-time greatest play.

BTW, somebody on this board has posted in the past that they have a copy of this game.

Is there anyway I can get my hands on it?

I don't think you will see the "Miracle" listed at all. Number 42 has already been listed as a better game.

"When Mustang fans talk about the 1989 season, the first game they usually refer to is the "Miracle on Mockingbird." But if you ask the players and coaches from that season if there was another moment that rivaled the Connecticut game, they will talk to you about the win over North Texas on Homecoming. Unlike the last second 31-30 win over Connecticut, this was true dominance from the opening kickoff. The 35-9 destruction of North Texas takes its place at No. 42 on our countdown of the 90 Greatest Moments".

This game was terrific. I bet Fred Akers just couldn't believe his mighty Longhorns could get whipped by a little freshman like Lance.

As for the Miracle on Mockingbird. Would that team from 1989 have stood a chance in hell against the Pony Express? No way. The score would probably have been like what Houston did in '89. But something I think you are missing in this coutdown, Stallion, is that they are ranking 90 Moments, not 90 teams. And whether you like it or not, the Miracle on Mockingbird was an amazing moment.

I have shared your comments with a handful of former SMU players, scattered across different eras in our history, and they have all said the same thing. "What an [deleted]."

It is undisputably the Greatest Pony Lite Moment of all time-which shows you just how pathetic this program has been. I'm surprised you know football players that actually attend games-good for them!

When Stallion FINALLY changed his bed sheets, sometime in late March, freshman year....this ranks as a Top Ten moment in Cockrell dorm history.
