I am happy. I have a lot of confidence in Jason Pipkins. I have talked about him a lot on this board, and I think he is very underratted.

Since it seems Briggs might still be getting over the injury he sustained, it is smart to start Pipkins, if Briggs feels like he can go, then let him try it out, but at least let Pipkins get some confidence by starting and not coming off the bench for an injury RB.

I look forward to seeing Pip, reach that endzone on 9-2-2000.

To SMUPonyfan:

I don't remember seeing the kid play. I know you've seen him, at least in practice and scrimmage. What can you tell me about his running style? Anyone to compare him to? Thanks SPF.

Pipkins is fast and has power. He is not the power runner Briggs is. He is a cross between Johnnie Freeman and Briggs. What he lacks in speed he makes up for in power, and vise versa. I think he will perform better in our new offense, because he is not a runner that gets the ball every snap and pounds it out for a couple of yards, he is more of the type you grabs about 4 great carries a half and the rest of his runs are decent. I don't think you could base an offense around him like you could Briggs. We will soon see.

Pip can play. He and Briggs will be a nice change of pace for each other.
