Impressive showing by a Mustang

Postby MustangFan » Mon Dec 30, 2002 12:51 pm

Denver RB Clinton Portis is being showered with praise for his strong rookie season, and he should be - he's played well. He's also been called "a speed back with power" (as opposed to pure power guys who can't really run away from someone.)

Yesterday, he was caught from behind TWICE by former SMU star Jacoby Rhinehart, including once when Coby came all the way across the field to track him down.

Glad to see him doing well. He hasn't gotten a lot of playing time or publicity, but clearly he still works as hard as he always did. Keep it up!

Not to go Aggie on you, UNFMustang06, but in my mind, there's no such thing as a FORMER Mustang. Once you are fortunate enough to play for the Ponies, you're a Pony for life. That's why I still try to keep tabs on folks who played only part of their careers at SMU - Josh McCown, Chris Sanders, Jack Brewer, Karon Riley, etc.

Glad to see you're as enthusiastic about Rhinehart and the rest of the SMU Ponies as the rest of us are!
