McCown's Technicolor Yawn

Postby SMUBob » Mon Sep 04, 2000 2:08 am

I guess we all know what flavor Gatorade he was drinking.......

Just thought we might build on that Maalox Moment to list some of the more memorable sidelight moments that have occurred at SMU games.

Two come to mind right away: 1) that "most personal" foul perpetrated on UT's Stan Thomas in the '89 game; 2) Greg Hood's stirring defense of the sacred turf at Kyle Field in '81.

Got any more to entertain us with?

I was not there for it, but I heard that Bordano made an awesome play in a game and came off the field and head-butted a fellow player...but that player did not have his helmet on. Caused a nice cut to the head of Bordano's teammate. It was a mistake, but I would have liked to have seen that.

Mustang Matt:

Please pass along my regards to Dominique Phillips on the training staff.

I met her when, as a high school senior at North Shore HS here in Houston she showed an interest in SMU and I tried to encourage her to go work for Cash.

She must be a senior by now. Tell her Bob King says hello.

Would that be the same Bob King who coaches football at ESD?

Nope. There's lots of Bob Kings out there but this one was never a football coach.....except for directing the 1982 LXA pledge team to a 27-0 victory over the ATO's. After that I retired as a coach with a 1-0 record.
