Earrrrrrrrrrrly preview

Postby Pony Up » Mon Mar 03, 2003 4:27 pm

collegefootballnews.com has us ranked #111 in it's very-early 2003 rankings.

"111. SMU
What to watch for this spring: The running game appears to be fine, but the Mustangs have to use this spring to step up the passing attack."

I looked at that list. Whether we are really number 111 is impossible to guess at this time. But I have a real hard time with us being 111th, if Rice is in the 80s and TCU is in the 50s. TCU is probably better than we are at the moment, but not that much, and I'm not sure Rice is better at all.

Not to rain on the parade, but I think it is a little naive to think that TCU is only a little better than us. We have a light at the end of the tunnel and are improving, but we still have a long way to go.

While I don't think that is very accurate, it is probably closer to the mark than it has been in a few years, when heightened expectations were not met. For those of you who do not like the ranking, look at it this way--it provides bulletin board fodder for the year to come.

I knew Fast Eddie wasnt going to like this one.

I wonder what fast ed would do to this guy who ranked us 111, if we locked them both in a room and gave ed a rubber hose?

ed feel free to give us some details.

I'm so sick and angry at the guy I would need to calm down for a while even if I had a rubber hose. I think the aggies will be in the 45 or 60 category next year but if we can win the WAC, we'll be bowl bound and the following two years will be crucial to being undefeated. I really think if we knock off some vaunted division teams and go undefeated there is no way we can be denied the bcs bowl spot. They'll probably do away with that in 2006 but by them we will be able to say we were in the big show.

Yawn! this is really getting old. BTW didn't we finish lower than 111th in the Sagran Ratings last year.
