Gosselin's take on Texas tight ends

1. Greg Porter, Texas A&M: The Keller product is one of the draft's more intriguing prospects because he's a football player in a baseball player's body, having spent the last two summers playing minor league ball for the Anaheim Angels. He led NCAA tight ends in receptions last fall. NFL teams are anxious to get him in their weight room.

Draft projection: Second day.

2. Kevin Ware, Washington: The Spring product started only one season, replacing first-round NFL draft pick Jerramy Stevens in 2002. It was worth the wait, as Ware caught 41 passes and scored five touchdowns. He has the size to block.

Draft projection: Second day.

3. John Hampton, SMU: The Burleson product became SMU's all-time leading receiver at tight end with 114 catches and 1,485 yards. He led all WAC tight ends with his 33 catches in 2002 and had two 100-yard games in his career. The one drawback is speed. Hampton ran a 4.94 40 at his campus workout.

Draft projection: Late rounds/FA

Hamp can play, if he gets in the right system.

Look at what Mariucci did in San Francisco with that guy from Yale - maybe Hamp could play for Mooch in Detroit?

Porter and Hampton both have great hands. Porter's a little faster, Hampton's a better blocker. I'd say they're relatively even (which of course shows why I'm not an NFL scout.)
