Never happen but, writer says the two schools should not join the groveling ACC. VT hasn't distinguished itself either, . . . please take me, I'm suiting you, I accept

Wouldn't it be entertaining if they said no and the Big East turned around and extended invitations to FSU, Md, Va & Louisville? Tell me those 4 plus the BE 8 wouldn't make a great fball conference. That 18 team bball league would be awesome as well, and Duke & UNC would be left licking their wounds.

the vote was on a joint basis I believe-the offer may be contingent on joint acceptance as well.

Their invites are seperate and not contingent on anything, this comes from Paul Dee at UofM's official press conference today: "We (Miami and Virginia Tech) are not tied to each other we have been told." . And no, Va Tech, has not officially accepted yet, the AD has only has said he is "inclined to accept the offer."
If you don't believe me go to Techsideline.com
They are starting to get a little nervous over there.

As Corso would say, "not so fast my friends"
The AP is reporting continued efforts by the BE to keep Miami, who is not expected to get back to the ACC until next Monday. It doesn't reference whether VT and Miami were invited separately or jointly.

Here is another report on the timing and counter proposal by BE. The numbers are getting big. You could make a strong case that staying put may be better for Miami without their preference for BC and Syracuse:

If Miami stays in the BE that gives them 7 members. Louisville will join to give them 8.
VT will stay in the ACC (I can hardly write that without laughing), giving them 10.
Assuming they aren't able to successfully petition for a conference championship game with only 10 schools, then 6 outside schools need to be added.
This is so great. What a goof.
