Come Monday

Postby Nacho » Fri Jun 27, 2003 4:39 pm

Miami could:

--decide to stay in the BE

--decide to go to the ACC

--If they stay in the BE that conference will almost surely go to 12 teams over the next couple of years so that a football champioship game can be played. Some of those teams could come from the ACC, eg FSU, GT and Clemson.

-- they go to the ACC&almost assuredly demand that either BC or Cuse go with them to form a 12 team conference

--Miami holds all the marbles. The ACC must be sweating bullets.

No doubt they are. If this blows up, NC State who switched their vote on BC and Syracuse will be kicking itself. I can't believe that the voted on the two team plan without first consulting Miami. This gang really can't shoot straight.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

How bent would Virginia Tech officials be if Miami suddenly decides to stay where it is, and some of the ACC teams Nacho mentioned jump ship to go to the Big East?

I'm liking this. It might even end up with Miami staying and FSU going to BE. Trading FSU for VT would be hysterical. Always one who loves to see the BCS schools screw themselves, there is nothing I would like better. (It is highly doubtful but what a kick it would be).

A 12-school Big East would still make less money than the 10-school ACC.

The Big East revenue split has quite a variance between member schools; the ACC is spread pretty evenly within the conference. So, those schools would risk losing millions if they left the ACC for the Big East...

...sorry GA Tech, Clemson and FSU aren't going anywhere, regardless of what UM does.
