However, the polls dictated the champ back then...
Heading into Arkansas week, SMU was ranked #2, Pitt #3 and Penn State #4...
Penn State beat Pitt, we tied, both Penn State and Nebraska jumped us.
You can argue the merits of the National Title all you want, reality is, we didn't get the votes because of our slow finish.
