Several problems. First, CUSA president intimated in his interview that two schools might be "lost" to the BE. Second, are Syracuse, UConn, BC, and Pitt willing to give up basketball games (television ratings and Sagarin points) against Villanova, Georgetown, St. Johns, Seton Hall, etc. for ECU and USF football games? Third, ND is a member for all sports other than football, what happens to them? Do they go to the ACC, or this Catholic basketball league? Fourth, speaking of Georgetown what's going on there, they had one player opt out for the draft and have had three players quit this summer? Fifth, will this new conference, have to requalify to get the auto bid for basketball? That will not sit well with the defending National Champions or Louisville. The Washington Post indicated today that CUSA and the Atlantic 10 are involved in BE discussions and that the BE and CUSA are looking at doing things openly with each other. Atlantic 10 has UMass, Xavier and George Washington for basketball. Lastly, will ABC and the BCS like this arrangement? With regard to Army, my understanding is that Army is not happy being in a football conference. After its 8 conference games, its games with Navy and Air Force, it only has one OOC date left, and thus they are losing some long term relationships.
In sum, TCU is hoping for a great boon. By way, Fan could see one SMU game per year in football and basketball by going to root for TCU. Either way, we're glad you see our team play every year.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
