Running Game

Postby Stallion » Wed Jul 16, 2003 8:10 pm

With Bennett announcing that Darrin Johnson has moved to TE SMU is starting to develop the size-at least on the right side-that it needs to strengthen to running game. RG Townsend Hargis 6-4, 300, RT Sterling Harris 6-6, 310 TE Darrin Johnson 6-6, 283. Also, on short yardage you could bring in TE Ryan Kennedy 6-5, 261. That's a step in the right direction-could see a lot of student body right running plays especially in the WAC where defenses generally are not as physical against the run.

Does either TE have hands? Big loss at that position.

The running game should serve us well in the WAC. The passing game should be improved. Defense is still suspect but this improvement will get us 5-6 wins.

Kennedy has good hands. I understand Darrin Johnson is very athletic (not just a big guy), but I haven't seen him catch enough passes to make an evaluation.
