Media Guide

Has anybody gotten a copy of this year's media guide? If it has not come out yet, any idea as to when it will be available?

Should be available 8/3. That's when SMU is having their Media Day, and I doubt they'd do that without the guides. :-)

Media Day is on a Sunday? Yeh, that looks REALLY good for a school that has ties to the Methodist church...NOT! Are you sure you have the right date?

I think Media Day is actually Aug. 9.

Saw a blue line of the media guide. It's okay. Good for us, anyway. Nothing special, but improved from last season. Wish we had photos of huge crowds at home games. The brick wall helps hide the mostly-empty seats.

Weren't they $10 last year?
I wonder if they'll be twice as big, or twice as good ....

I think I paid $16 last year, I could be wrong. Maybe that was b-ball. And yes, twenty bucks IS quite steep. I don't mind paying it. My worn-out copy of last year's guide sits high atop the magazine stack next to my commode, mocking me. I need new literature.

I just got mine, and it's amazing!
Well worth the cost, many times over.

Inside the back cover, there are some comments about Coach Bennett:

"Coach Bennett is a very intense coach who gets the best out of his players. He is more than just a coach, though, he is someone who helps you grow and mature as a person. Coach Bennett is always there for you."
- Dallas Cowboys rookie cornerback Terence Newman

"Without Coach Bennett, I wouldn't be where I am today. He is one of the best coaches I have ever been around because he does more than just get you ready to play each week. He is there away from football as well. I was fortunate to have someone like him have an impact on my life. He was like a father figure to me while I was in college."
- Dallas Cowboys linebacker Dat Nguyen

"I am excited to be an SMU Mustang because of where the program is headed under Coach Bennett. He is going to get it rolling and I wanted to be there when he does. Coach Bennett is doing a great job in recruiting, and he is not done yet. He's going to get better and better players at SMU. He is open, honest and his enthusiasm is contagious."
- Freshman SMU running back Richuel Massey

"SMU could not have made a better selection than Phil Bennett to become their head football coach. Phil is an excellent coach in all aspects of the game (recruiting, strategy, fundamentals and schematically). He is a strong disciplinarian and responsive to the needs of student-athletes and others who will surround his program."
- Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder

We should have a video with Newman, Nguyen, Massey and Snyder saying that and show it to all recruits. Those names all carry some real weight.
