Flanigan? Willis? Josh McCown and Bartel are on NFL rosters. We have had and do have some good talent at the position. Thoughts?

That's right he left the team to start a job. The other guy that year was Luker who left to play in a band, leaving us with not much ie freshmen Bartel and Tate Wallis.

...and we all should have known how the Bennett era was going to end up when he started Wallis over Bartel. Wallis was the worst QB I've ever seen, and that includes my high school QB that wasn't even offered a D-I scholarship.

My vote is Ramon Flanigan.

When Flanigan's playing career was over, he was
SMU's all-time total offense leader with 7,437 yards.
Too bad Pye wouldn't allow Ramon to have more help.

I hate the red pants and the stripeless helmet. Flanigan had his moments to be sure. And he had many years to generate his numbers. I would go with Willis on a one season comparison and Flanigan on a whole career comparison.

I'm full of comparisons today- how does the 1997 team stack up vs the 2006 team? The Willis and Justin Rogers squad vs the Flanigan and Chris Bordano team? Interesting.

Flanigan displayed leadership qualities.......unlike what Willis has shown so far.................

Flanigan was a bad @ss - especially w/ the lack of talent around him. He could take over by himself.

Until he got injured against Arkansas here in the Cotton Bowl. He was never the same after that.

i could get more excited about our QB talent if we had anyone starting in the NFL on a regular basis

Willis might end up as the best post-DP - maybe SMU's best ever - and I'm a big fan of Josh McCown, but as of right now, Flanigan stands alone.

I was too young to enjoy the last starting on a regular basis NFL QB that played at SMU...Don Meredith.
