Mockingbird station to stadium...

Postby rodbakeriii » Tue Sep 16, 2003 4:38 pm

Hopefully you're being treated with class from my fellow OSU Pokes. Looking forward to a well played football game on Saturday.

Question...

How far is the stadium from the Mockingbird DART station? I live in Fort Worth, and I'm considering the TRE, then jumping on the light rail.

How feasible is that?

About a 10 minute walk. Just get off at the Mock. Station, walk west on Mockingbird, cross over Central Expressway, keep west on Mockingbird, walk across Airline Drive and walk north to the ticket counter on the north end of Ford Stadium, if you haven't already bought 'em!

Just watch for cars when you walk across Central Expressway's overpass from the service road....they have a tendency to run a LOT of red lights there!

The station is a short walk from the stadium, maybe about 10 minutes.

In the past they have shuttled people from the mockingbird station lot to the stadium. Isn't this still the case?

Yes, SMU provides free shuttle bus service from the DART rail station and the surrounding parking lots to Moody Coliseum which is a short block north of the stadium.

Shuttle is the way to go..it's easy and they run a lot...never full usually. North lot of the DART station.

Shuttle is the easiest and most convenient thing to do. Prefer it to parking at Meadows Museum. I park at Sonny Bryan's in the West End and ride in. Fun!

BTW, I believe that the ride on Dart is free with an SMU ticket, at least it was in the past. Anyone else know if that is still the deal?

rodbakeriii, the light rail is the way to go. As others have said, it stops right by the stadium (Mockingbird) and there are several restaurants (seafood, Mexican, Asian) and an Irish bar at the Mockingbird Station to grab a pre/post game meal or drink. Its a pretty cool little area.
