I have no way of knowing, of course, but my bet is that Tate Wallis starts at quarterback. As for redshirts coming off .... um .... Maybe one of the linebackers? (I know linebacker isn't anywhere near our biggest need, but I hear they're terrors at practice.) Fred Turner? Justin Boren?

Everyone has been saying that LB is a very strong group.. even I. But I'm starting to think we do need some more speed in that group as well. A two-deep rotation getting the freshmen some playing time surely wouldn't hurt if they also have the talent.

PonySnob, got to give you props for a neutral question with legitimate relevance to the upcoming game.

I've been opinionated about this qb thing. I like Tate Wallis. If we had a bigger interior oline, I'd love to see him play some tight end. He's a gamer. But I think this QB decision has to come down to Bartel vs Phillips/Meeks. Yes Wallis has mobility, but the oline is not going to improve drastically for at least two years. Is Wallis your QB for next year and the future? Lets get on with it and get competitive. If Phillips doesn't play until next year, it becomes 2005 before he has any experience to draw on. I say start Bartel and see how it goes. If the protection breaks down against Nevada, the coaches will pretty much know we aint gonna win the WAC. In that case, get Phillips in there for mobility number one and the future number two.

Regardless of whether Baterl or Wallis start, if we are sitting with 3 points and 50 yards at the half, Phillips should get a shot.

Need to build for the future. Start Bartel. Heck, even the young guys. I never want to see the offense that we had to design around Tate again.

Start Bartel. With a little better protection, he can throw on any team in the WAC.

We need more than a quarterback! How does the same guy score 7 times. Where is our defense? Maybe they should take all the freshman off redshirt and see what we have. How about that Sturdivant at free safety?
