Froggies Get HUGE Article in the Houston Chronicle

Postby MrMustang1965 » Fri Oct 24, 2003 11:39 am

OMG! You'd think they were vying for the national championship!

SMU does get mention in the article in a roundabout way. The Chronicle ranked the state's NCAA Div.1-A teams.

1. TCU (7-0) The state's best defense sets the tone for Horned Frogs.

2. Texas (5-2) The state's most talented team didn't show up twice and paid for it with losses.

3. Texas Tech (5-2) Passing game superb but defense is one of the worst.

4. Houston (5-2) Art Briles has best record of state's first-year coaches.

5. Texas A&M (3-4) Taking a step backward in Dennis Franchione's first year.

6. North Texas (4-3) Darrell Dickey has assembled a solid defensive unit.

7. Baylor (3-4) Fewer parts to work with than other Big 12 schools, but the progress is obvious.

8. Texas-El Paso (2-5) Can't match the big boys but beat SMU and Sam Houston State.

9. Rice (1-5) Running game is solid. Passing is terrible and defense is horrid.

10. SMU (0-7) The absolute worst offense in the land - fewest points and yards.

Would you rather them put the Horns-gangstas as number 1 ? The only jibba jabba on this ranking is Franny over UNT

SMU did lose to UTEP and Baylor already - but I pity the foo' that says we WON'T turn it around

I was listening to the Gary Patterson show on ESPN last night. It was a joke - the callers just said...oh, we can beat UT easily if we had them on the schedule...yada, yada and kissing Patterson's butt. It was really funny and embarassing the callers they put on the air.

They *barely* beat Arizona and UAB - give me a break.

And who has UT beaten that's good? Let's see- they were run off the field by both Ark and OU. Gents- The hurdle for who is best in Texas this year just ain't very high.

Last time I checked, SMU would kill for barely beating anyone...

Hey lurking Froggie - we aren't speaking to - go away. You will not be undefeated so get over it.
