Best game in Ford Stadium?I expected 63 - 3, but I think that was the most fun I've had at Ford Stadium in its entire 4 year history. Picture perfect weather except for the chill in the wind. I guess that was actually part of what made it perfect weather.
This is was what college football is all about, except that the no chance of winning underdog was supposed to win this almost perfect day. May the forth be with us.
Re: Best game in Ford Stadium?only 20,112. Good thing TCU travels well across town, because there aren't many SMU fans left who cared about this season.
Re: Best game in Ford Stadium?Man, I would have guessed 24K paid. Our turnout was pitiful though. TCU really showed. Thats what happens when you post 0-12 and the crosstown goes 11-1.
Re: Best game in Ford Stadium?Hmmm .... I thought there would be more of them (it's not like any Frog fans can claim they were watching the last time their team won 11 games -- since it's never happened, I think), and I thought there would be fewer of us. I thought the crowd was tolerable, at the very least.

Re: Best game in Ford Stadium?Man guys our players hung in there till the very end! This game was our best game of the season BY FAR! I dunno I really thought we were gonna win this game and we almost did! And man! What a great ball game! I lost my voice about half way through the 3rd I was screamin so loud! Whoo and I got on the big screen to lol
Re: Best game in Ford Stadium?Their turn out was an embarrassment for them - give me their season five yrs from now and I guaratee 10,000 - 14,000 for SMU - they had 7,000 tops.
Re: Best game in Ford Stadium?TCU didnt bring near as many as I thought you would and they even left early!
Re: Best game in Ford Stadium?I've never seen 10,000 SMU fans at a road game in 40 years I've been going to games. It was a very nice turnout by TCU especially since the ticket prices were outrageous.

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Best game in Ford Stadium?Stallion raises an excellent point. I'd like to see SMU stop this price gouging tactic. Our attendance has been so dismal in recent years that we really jack up prices for noteworthy opponents. I guess the assumption is that only a certain number of hard core fans are going to attend so we better account for budget shortfalls where we can. I kind of like Tulsa's stategy this year, i.e., they sold $1 tickets for their home opener and drew a great crowd. Their team responded with a win and got some momentum going. Next year, all eyes will be on actual attendance, so it's time to price the product according to it's value. If there is TRULY a commitment to athletics, let's start by not being overly concerned about ticket revenues. When the product is worthy, ticket revenue will take care of itself. Hopefully someday Mustang Club membership will benefit from the fact that only members can get quality season ticket locations...but we are years away from that happening.

Re: Best game in Ford Stadium? The photo in the DMN showing the stadium seating in the background looked very bare for the TCU game. Where were those 20K fans anyway?

Re: Best game in Ford Stadium? They were on the east side in the sun where it was warm. We moved over there for the third quarter to warm up some. Whats the wind chill factor when its 55 degrees, and 25mph wind gusts?
May the forth be with us.
Re: Best game in Ford Stadium?Every team gouges on the 'good games'
If you were a season ticket holder, you don't get gouged, same price for every ticket. aTm does that for all 'big' Big12 games (UT, Tech, OU) and lowers the price for Div1AA's and ISU/KUs.
Re: Best game in Ford Stadium?I stand by my prvious post - not many frogs considering their season.
