Interesting Scenarioposts on the new CUSA Fan Forum suggests that if TCU leaves Miami(Ohio) may take its place. I don't know enough about Miami(Ohio) vital statistics to compare that alternative to for example La Tech, but I do know that would very likely mean that Southern Miss would slip over to our Division which would be outstanding. Keep alive a rivalry with Tulane but what would really be funny is that we would be replacing TCU with a HIGHER ranked team. You guys realize what an outstanding season these guys have had. Clobbered Colorado St and Northwestern and beat several highly regarded teams in the MAC. Interesting-any of you Yankees have a better perspective on Miami(Ohio)

Re: Interesting ScenarioVery interesting.
Miami of Ohio has the second richest football tradition in Ohio. A top fifteen team this year, subject to their Thursday game with Bowling Green for their division championship in MAC. Miami is called the cradle of coaches with a list that includes Woody Hayes, Bo Schembeckler, Ara Parseghian, etc. They do well in OOC games with Big Ten. They are located an hour from Cincinnati and are a public university. Geographically, not a great location for much of the new Conference USA, but would compliment Memphis, Marshall (who is on the Ohio River - a two or three hours away)and East Carolina. BB is very good as are most non-revenue sports. They just creamed UCF FB this week and are heading to GMAC to play a CUSA (presumeably TCU). MAC didn't cry when UCF (too far away) and Marshall (new to the conference) departed because they were already had a large membership. But Miami is a founding member with great rivalries in the MAC. If true, CUSA would be stronger. :hmm: [ 11-30-2003, 07:38 PM: Message edited by: Water Pony ] Pony Up
