Josh got good reviews in DMN

Postby Sam I Am » Thu Dec 18, 2003 10:12 am

You would think that our home town bought the postivie publicity that the DMN gave Josh mcCown in the Thursday paper. Comparing him to Manning is quite an improvement over being called a worthless traitor fit only for Div. 1-AA ball. :D

Count me among those who couldn't care less about Josh McCown. He transferred. When he was drafted, it listed Sam Houston as his school, not SMU.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Connecting Josh Mc to SMU is a reach. You're right, he is a product of Sam Houston State.

Some feel he was a traitor. I don't, but admit I could be wrong there since I don't know Josh personally. The real argument, though, is whether he was talented enought to play ball at SMU. It's more than clear he was.

Josh McCown was completely mishandled by Coach Cavan. Cavan didn't even know McCown had left until he read it in the paper. Hard to imagine a coach being so out of touch as to not know what's going on with his #1 QB. I assume we would have had a shot at Luke too, if we hadn't jerked Josh around so much.

I don't think it's fair to blame Josh for what happened.

yeah the fist 8 Turnovers against Josh in a 2 game stretch shouldn't count against the poor kid. Josh McCown sucked as an SMU QB-and handed the other team more scores than just about any QB in the Modern Era. He didn't get jerked around-he stunk the place up so bad he deserved to sit his [deleted] on the bench. I guarantee you there is one coach in this town who we all agree can "Make a difference" who wouldn't stand for the repeated mistakes this kid has made throughout his College and Pro Career. Literrally, I'm not sure this kid has ever played a Pro Game when he hasn't scored a TD for the other team. We know he learned that at SMU where little kids playing defense used to look up to him like he was Santa Claus.

It's sick, man. You'd rather drag a damn guy through the mud rather than admit you're dead wrong, Stallion. He's a NFL quarterback and with even average coaching would have been something special here at SMU. Take that spin you learned in law school and sell it somewhere else, pal.

As punch said its hard to imagine a coach not knowing whats going on with his # 1 QB. Sort of like bennett not knowing that his #1 and #2 Qb's were playing intramural ball until he got the police report.

Yeah, you're right. Coach Bennet should be following their every move, 24 hours a day. Perhaps they should be living with him and his two children...then he would be aware of their every action.

More Stallion Sour Grapes:

Once again we are to believe Stallion knows more than the experts in National Football League!

I wonder why Stallion has not been hired yet to run an NFL team?

Josh McCown playing in the NFL only exposes again how DEAD WRONG Stallion was about his boy Mike Cavan.

Oh by the way Stallion, we all know where Josh is .....Josh is getting playing time in the NFL on Sundays....but Stallion, where is Mike Cavan?

If Mike Cavan was such a wonderful coach and only a "victim" of the SMU system then why hasn't Mike Cavan landed a job in the NFL running a unit like Josh McCown or Tom Rossley?

Yeah Stallion Josh McCown & Tom Rossley suck and are both currently very active in the NFL....and your boy Cavan is great but is not in the NFL. (unless someone added another water-boy)

Go to e-Bay and type in "Josh McCown"...wow over 80 items appear......then go to e-Bay and punch in the word "Mike Cavan".....wow not one thing pops up! :hmm: .....LOL

Stallion: That 'Modern Era' phrase is getting old and stale.

For the record...

McCown's INT stats at SMU: 2000, 16; 1999, 10; 1998, 7...Total: 33 The SMU Athletic Department Media Relations Office didn't have complete numbers readily available for McCown since he didn't finish his career there, according to the person I spoke with.

At Sam Houston State: Completed 259 of 429 passes for 3,481 yards with 12 interceptions and 32 TD passes. 2 of the interceptions were returned for TDs. He rushed 112 times for 351 yards and 6 TDs.

Mel Kiper rated him a top 5 QB in last year's draft .. good enough for me. Who wouldn't transfer jobs to improve their long term career possibilities? (Gee I love the mail room here at ACME, I'd hate to betray them to take that manager's position at Spacely Sprockets..)

There are some days that I feel like I'm still working for Mr. Slate at the Bedrock Quarry.
