Mustang Club Mailing

Postby HighfalutinHorse » Wed Dec 31, 2003 3:20 pm

...just recieved my '04 Mustang Club materials in the mail, and I must say, like the '03 football season, I'm a little "underwhelmed". Who printed this stuff? Looks cheap, "last minute", hap hazzard....110% theme, is THAT ALL you want? How about a theme of "TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL"???...My letter from Fry / LeVias is so poorly printed, I can not read the middle three paragraphs...it REALLY gets depressing when you look at the comparative Operating Budgets, we have a smaller budget then Tulane & Rice, and $7 million less than Tech?? Anybody with an MBA from SMU would ask, "what are we still doing here...?" I MUST say, when I saw the mail and the SMU envelope, I WAS PUMPED, now I am simply depressed, and WILL ONLY send them a 10% upgrade...I hope I did it right!!

Yea, I got mind yesterday and you are right,it looked cheap.I am very surprised that Fry allowed them to put his name on it after the stories he told at his banquet(?) when he was here to be honored. I am not sure about the 10% thing after an 0-12 season and Copeland sending out that letter backing bennett 100%. I seriously do not think that bennett can coach(head) at the Div 1 level. I have not seen one thing from him to convince me that he can. I will say that I bet that there are about 10 high school coaches in Texas and probably that many here in Florida that could have won more than 3 games in 2 years. The recruiting is OK nothing great, what is up with us signing those two lineman last year that were 5'9 and 5'10 and then playing them all year while the big guys never saw the field. Don't know about the direction that this program is heading.

Yep, the printing quality was very poor on my Mustang Club mail-out too. The letter and pledge card were smeared and poor quality.

The people that stuffed those envelopes should be approached and asked why they did not say anything? Sloppy is the only way to describe it.

It is not very smart to be asking people for money for a cause and then make the presentation in such an unprofessional manner.

Maybe it was just a few of the mail-outs that were poor, and hopefully not all of them.

Anyway, I will renew my Membership and up it by the 10% they are asking for.

Hopefully everyone will pledge to the Mustang Club and help get this thing turned around.

Go Mustangs!

I'm raising mine by 20%, if Mrs. Corso gives me the OK. The Ponies need our support to close the gap on budgets, etc., to level the playing field a bit.

My mailer was fine. Only a little smearing on the pledge card. The printed flyer was nice. I'm not sure what you folks got for the letter. I agree though, that more care should've been taken. If such a small mailing is so important, why not make sure it is top quality.

I also got my Meadows alumni flyer. It was well done. My only complaint was they misspelled my name in the alumni notes section. Doh!

Go Ponies!

Believe it or not, I am doubling my donation this year. Last year's donation was pretty small; I should have given more, but didn't.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Who are the 5-9 linemen that played this year????

Already raised the 10%, SMU needs that mony worse that I need an extra 100 bucks.

If you look at the number of donors at each level... SMU needs more at every level. The surprise to me was a lot at 100 dollars and BIG money over 10,000 only akes a few, but where are the large number of middle class donors at the 500 to 5000 dollar range?

I didn't have a problem with the mailing. The letter and pledge card looked pretty crappy (with the exception of the brocure--nice), but to me, that just suggests they're being tight with the buck, and I like that. Or, to put it another way: if our athletic department can't afford a quality printing service (or to do a second printing when the first one comes out crappy), I think it's safe to say they need our donations more than ever. Just a thought.

At 1.4 million plus or minus, where does that put us vs other universities that are similar - Baylor/TCU/Tulane/Tulsa/Rice - what do they raise privately from their Booster groups? does anyone publish this?
