Charleston, of course, you are right.

We need a new AD. Mr. Copeland's failures include:

firing Rossley and hiring Caven

being the AD when the SWC died and not getting us into the Big 12

failure to change school policies in the mid-90s to enable SMU to compete in big time football

failure to generate fan support and attendance in football and basketball

failure to get us into CUSA when it seemed we were going in with TCU

I don't know that you can blame that on him. If the Big 8 would have had it's way, it'd have just been the Big 11 and found someone else to add later along the way. The only reason Baylor even got invited to the party is because Governor Ann Richards had the other 3 invitees by the cojones. If you want to blame him for the other stuff, fine but I don't think you can pin that on him.

The University of Wyoming and other MWC schools will have to update their maps once TCU becomes part of their conference.

Regional map from U of W's campus virtual tour:

Charleston, I would agree with you except there are a number of TCU sources who seem to indicate that they want out of CUSA because we joined. The MWC will NEVER get to be a BCS conference and you can take that to the bank. If the Big East somehow is decertified, the BCS would just split the pot fewer ways, and won't add more mouths. The MWC has not had a BCS qualified team (Top 15 ending polls)since BYU in the early 90's. And they certainly haven't averaged at least one every two years. The WAC and the MAC have come closer than the MWC to that goal. So it is a lateral move. TV money will not be a big gain especially when you look at travel costs for revenue and non-revenue sports. Attendance might get a boost short term, but if they add Fresno and Hawaii, TCU will be relegated to the bastard step-child division (TCU, UNLV, Fresno, Hawaii, SDS, UNM) while BYU, AFA, CSU, Wyo, Utah are in the Northern Division probably with Boise. Remember this is the group that left the WAC because the WAC didn't want them to play in the same division every year. The deal makes no long term sense. And we know from personal experience how well SDS, Fresno, Hawaii and UNLV draw in the Metroplex. Add in games at altitude, tough travel, Patterson's reservations about joining, late night games for TV, and Thursday games (thus removing players from classes Wed., Thurs., and Friday) and it really looks like a crazy decision. Either the Frogs are buying pie in the sky predictions of BCS inclusion, or they just want to get away from us. I think a big part of it is the latter. So, drop them from the schedule. They'll be begging to be put back on in a few years.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

I doubt TCU will beg for anything...they are too proud to stoop to begging. I have to disagree with Charleston on ticket sales and attendance being a major consideration for membership in the BCS. ABC (and its money) is the driving force on the BCS, and it is all about TV sets available. The whole state of New Mexico only has a population of a million and I'm not sure Wyoming and Utah are much better. That is why I think the BCS will find some way to keep the Big East eligible for inclusion...even if it means dedicating one of their bowls for an "at large" spot (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). The east coast, the west coast and the south are where the TV's are and as far as Texas and Colarado are concerned, the big 12 has those states covered.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

This whole scenario is the equivalent of the loser who gets dumped by his girlfriend, then accepts her marriage proposal after he wins the lottery.
