New radio announcer

Ponyfans.com scoop:

Rumor has it Dan Freiburger will not continue working with Mark Followill as the radio broadcasters for SMU football. The grapevine indicates that Freiburger will be replaced in the booth by former SMU linebacker and graduate assistant coach Craig Swann. The so-called "Hit Man from Quitman" is a great guy, clearly understands the game and should do a great job. Freiburger developed into a solid broadcaster, but Swann should be a more than capable replacement and should combine with Followill to become a great team.

THAT WOULD BE OUTSTANDING. WHAT IS YOUR SOURCE ON THAT BIT OF INFORMATION? SWANN WAS A HELL OF A PLAYER, AND I THINK HE WOULD MAKE A GREAT RADIO ANNOUNCER....GOOD NEWS

As for a source, Swann told me a couple of weeks ago about this, so I would assume he knows what's going on.
Swann is going to be doing the color commentary for all games and definitely will be a welcome addition to the radio booth.
I am going to have to bring my headphones to the game so I can listen to him and then heckle him about getting stymied.

Yes, I will be doing the color with Mark Followill and the ticket this year. I am very pumped and excited, and hope to pick up where Dan left off. He did a good job the past few years. I can't wait until 09-02-00.

Note to Swann --

Be nice to your statistician. The more you bribe him, the more numbers he'll throw your way. If your check clears, they might even be accurate.
