Wide receivers

Postby DallasDiehard » Mon Jul 03, 2000 11:50 am

I'm a late arrival to this board, so I never saw the official analysis and/or posts about the wide receivers. When he was signed last year, Marcus Carter was supposed to be a big stud - tall, fast .... someone wrote that he had the POTENTIAL to be a poor man's Keyshawn Johnson. (Not another Johnson, just tall, fast, etc....)

So what was the impression of Marcus Carter after spring practice? I was never sure why he redshirted last year - it seemed to me that as good as Cunningham, Cardwell, et al were, we always can use a target with size and speed. Can he play?

Any rumors of players that might not be returning this year?

Only one I've heard of who isn't coming back is PK Jacob Crowley.

He wasn't going to play anyway, was he? Isn't Adam Walterscheid still the kicker?

How did we switch topics. Can anyone give me a read on Marcus Carter?

Carter looked fast, but it was hard to get a real read on him during the scrimmages because he didn't a whole lot thrown his way. He seems to be learning the position, although he's got the raw skills to excel at it.

Sorry about the subject change, I had stuck with the subject but then edited my message about players leaving...

... hopefully, there won't be more to come later.

That Corey Roberts guy would be a huge addition to our already talented receiving group.

Didn't MC, switch positions? Was he originally a CB or Safety? That might be one of the reasons he has been real quiet. He has an incredible jumping ability, he could be the guy to throw to in a bad situation!
