How many of you are making the trip to Shreveport for the season opener on September 1 vs the Dawgs?

There is alot of discussion on our board over how many fans ya'll will actually bring -

My guess is somewhere between 1,500 to 2,000...

Many other are saying 4,000 or more...

What would be the most reasonable expectations on a SMU crowd?

Looking forward to our first trip to Ford and Moody!

I think 3-4,000 is a good bet. It will all depend on if the word gets out to the students that the game is at Shreveport. I think the marketing department could really throw something good together.

Of course with our student fans, they will all go to Shreveport and not show up to the game. They cannot handle their alchohol so no matter what time the game is they won't show up. They love excuses like "we drank to long" or "it was so hot."

Dwayne --
What are some good places to go out in Shreveport, other than the casinos? Are Tech fans hospitable to visiting teams' fans?

I would say most TECH fan's are very hospitable, if you see any tailgating just walk-up start talking football and I'm sure they will feed you.

I'm sure our BB&B board will be having some festivities (complete with some homebrew) and I'll post it's location as we get closer to the game. We would enjoy some SMU folks dropping by - especially those wearing McCown jersies - even if it is the WRONG brother.

Shreveport/Bossier has a wide varity of places to eat out side of the casinos. They have all of the national chains, but I would recommend some of the local haunts. Those would included - Ernest's Orleans Restaurant (steak-upscale), Brocato's (italian & steak, but I would suggest "fish-in-a-bag"), Herbie K's (downtown), Pete Harris (downtown), Dominic's (italian), just to name a few.

Does the stadium have a place for RV's to park over night? Or could you post the phone number so I can call them - Thanks.

I would think this game could grow into quite a party!!!

Yes, the stadium is located on the Louisiana State Fairgrounds - directly off of I-20. It has overnite RV parking complete with hookups and it also has a lot (north endzone) that is usually reserved for gameday RV's.

Try (318)635-1361, I hope it will help.

How about Ralph & Cackoo's? Used to be a good place to eat. Haven't eaten there since FWMustang transfered back from Georgia to SMU.

Yes, there is a Ralph & Kacoo's in Bossier City - you take the Benton Road Exit off of I-20 east.

You can see it from I-20 and there are plenty of billboards.

If you like Ralph & Kacoo's, I would also suggest Copeland's and Don's Steak & Seafood (my favorite) both are on the Shreveport side of the river.
