Captain EJ Smith Has Taken His Last Voyage

Postby Statler » Mon Apr 07, 2014 6:31 pm

I want to let everyone know that Captain EJ Smith aka Waldorf passed away last month. He died at the age of 54 (after battling cancer) and left a wife, daughter in college, and two sons in high school. He was a good Methodist and active in his church. He and I have had season tickets since '89 and saw a lot of bad football. Thus, Waldorf and Statler were born.

He had the gift of humor which came in handy being a Mustang fan. Here is one of his classic posts after the JJ-Arizona State affair:

He will be missed.

always a refreshing and welcome injection of humor into SMU's greatest moments of despair-one of my favorite shticks on ponyfans-which I often referred to myself

Good send off and very true. He always put a humorous spin at the bleakest times.

RIP and prayers for his loved ones.

Sad day. Great shtick - never over did it, and a long time loyal mustang.

Sad to hear this, Statler. I know he would have loved to have had Oscar come by for a visit. RIP, buddy.
