Conner Preston update

Postby PonyPride » Tue Apr 08, 2014 4:05 pm

Quarterback Conner Preston's career at SMU is over. He said Tuesday that he is on track to graduate this semester with a degree in history, and will do so. He has not decided what he will do after he graduates, saying that options could include finding another place to play or moving on from football altogether.

Is this because of his circulation issue or because Burcham is ahead of him?

Shame either way. Best of luck to him

Neither, from what I gathered. He practiced this spring and reported no ill effects, and he never seemed concerned about the pecking order at QB. He just said it was time to move on to the next chapter of his life, whatever that might be.

Connor is a good kid ... nice young man. He has always impressed me as having a good head on his shoulder, mature and realistic about stuff. He will be successful in life. Good luck CP

You hit the nail on the head, PSCA. When I met him, he was intelligent and charismatic, and seemed to love his team, even though he wasn't playing. It's a shame about the health issue he dealt with (or is dealing with), and whatever impact that had on his chance to play. Either way, he got a great education at a great school, and should do well. I would bet he learned so much standing with Coach Mumme last year that he might make a hell of a coach if that's what he decides he wants to do.

Thank you, CP, and good luck.

I will put on a SubmerseD album while I ponder what might have been.

Great, but very painful, reference.

This is too bad. I was really looking forward in him being in the mix next year assuming his health issues were past. Anybody graduating in 3 years is pretty impressive, much less a student athlete.

did he actually graduate-its better for him if he did-but I don't remember reading that
