Kevin Pope Coming Back

Postby El_Mustang » Wed Apr 16, 2014 2:45 pm

Combo player Kevin Pope has been granted a medical hardship waiver to come back. Some good news!

"It was later discovered that Pope was still suffering from the effects of an injury sustained in high school, and the 5-10 running back/linebacker missed the remainder of the 2010 season."

SMU dodged a bullet on this one. I'd love to know how much later it was "discovered" because I don't remember the slightest mention of it. June blew his redshirt and somehow SMU got bailed out here

Too bad we couldn't do the same with Jeremy Johnson

With Gresham possibly starting in the Fall, Pope can now stay at linebacker where he is needed.

If, as you say, Gresham is possibly starting then he is also possibly not starting.

I like Pope at running back. He did really good vs. UCF.

We will be good at RB with Pope, Line,P. and KC Nlemchi sharing time. Redshirt Gresham

ESPN had it on their home page. I like the fact they thought enough of it to put it on there. He really needs to stay at LB in my position, I feel comfortable with KC, Line and potentially Gresham.

Article I read this morning quoted Pope as saying he would be playing only on offense.

Good, he averaged 8 yards per carry on our porous Oline. We should be better in Oline and you will see Pope rocking out and Line, P. vastly improved and looking more like Zach.

Don't care if we need him more at LB... Seeing him drop the shoulder on people while running the ball was the most entertaining thing about last season. Hopefully he still gets to dabble at RB at least a little bit.

It was really entertaining to watch Pope play RB. As long as he's healthy, and on the field, I'm happy.
