I don't suggest BLM is more talented just more successful as a QB

I would say it is too early to judge him yet.

Mike Richardson had a pretty long career in the NFL as well.

Mrydel is correct! I also saw Hixson and BLM play and Hixson was better. And I went to school with Meredith! HE was undoubtedly the best ever out of SMU.

I wasn't around to see Meredith and Hixson, so maybe I'm not qualified to enter this fray, but to me, Ramon Flanigan was the best. I always wondered what would happen, in terms of him getting a shot at the pros, if he hadn't gotten hurt so much.

Contracts were not the same then as now and he knew his odds were not good and he had good opportunities in the business world. I saw them both play and I would take Hixson.

Sitting behind Len Dawson would be tough in terms of playing time. However a few guys made decent careers out of backing up legends.

Did Flanigan even go to training camp with any teams?

This. Although I don't believe he claims SMU as his college. Interesting the he's taken more snaps in a regular season NFL game than any June Jones recruited QB has............

Taking into account two guys from different eras, Hixon was much better. Bo has made the best of a bad situation at SMU and has built his own legacy!

Hixson vs. BLM? Hixson.

Hixson passed for over 7,000 yards in the SWC. He lead his team to a bowl victory over Oklahoma in an era when a team had to actually be good to go to a bowl game. He didn't post selfies of bad tats. I rest my case.

Don't forget, hardly any team thru the ball unless they had to in those days.

And it was a 10 game regular season with freshman ineligible. Hixson made his numbers in 31 games.
