SMU Launches Lone Star Mini-Plan
See SMU Tackle Texas A&M, TCU & Houston For As Little As $80!

July 21, 2014

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU football tickets are selling quickly, as renewal rates are strong and new sales are flooding in, with over 2,000 new season tickets now sold and totals nearing a new record. Sales are likely to increase, too, as SMU today launched the Lone Star Mini-Plan, which includes tickets to the Texas A&M, TCU and Houston games for as little as $80.

While a recent Dallas Morning News article points out that SMU season tickets are the best value in the Metroplex, SMU realizes that not all families and fans can commit to full season tickets. To meet the needs of these groups, SMU offers mini-plans - The Lone Star as well as Red & Blue mini-plans. The Red plan includes tickets to the TCU, Memphis and Houston games and starts at just $60. The Blue plan includes tickets to the Texas A&M, Cincinnati and USF games and starts at only $70.

SMU enters the season looking to build upon its run of recent on-field success. The Mustangs have been to four bowls in five seasons and have won 35 games over that span, the eighth-best five-year stretch in school history.

To purchase a mini-plan or season tickets, call the SMU Ticket Office at 214-768-4263.

Wow, that is quite a deal! I presume the $80 tickets are for the permanent endzone, or are these SRO tickets? I guess that the A&M and TCU tickets aren't selling too dramatically to allow another package including both games. Didn't the Aggie tickets cost $90 each last time?

The UH mini-plans are supposed to come out soon and cost $99 for three games, including the UTSA or UCF game plus two others. I believe those tickets will be around the endzone to the 20s on the second deck and quite a bit of availability on the third deck.

Good idea w/the mini plans.
TCU and A&M are the only reason I renewed my tix this season.

How is it possible we are "breaking records" with season ticket sales? Is aggy really making that much of a difference?

This should pad the attendance numbers for the UH game on Thanksgiving weekend

Or, check out the "Who Do You Think You're Kidding" option - the Lone Star package + UCF, Memphis and Cincy for just $1.00 more.

Since our season ticket holders didn't even sell out our small allotment for the Baylor opener, it tells you that there is practically zero interest.

Surprised that they didn't call it the 'mini-win' plan.

"new sales are flooding in, with over 2,000 new season tickets now sold and totals nearing a new record." I believe it's the Aggy game, plus TCU, that is driving increased ticket sales. The quote above doesn't 2,000 more season tickets, but 2K new ones. The Aggies didn't sell out the game last time but tickets were very highly priced. This time, you can get the TCU game and Houston one included. Even if you sold those tickets for $25 and $15 each, you could get your Aggy ticket for $40. They're used to paying over $100 per ticket in much bigger stadiums like Kyle and AT&T.

Smart move by the ticket office to keep arranging packages to maximize sales before allowing singe game seats to go on sale.

I'm holding out for the "Mini-Me" Plan; where each university plays only players who are no taller than 5' 9".

Solid A. The nostalgics would have also accepted the "all out" plan as a substitute.

So basically the strategy is to withhold sales of single game tickets to A&M and TCU until August and peddle multi-plans until the last minute. Aggies and Frogs and scalpers are buying tickets to guarantee seat now
