Never [deleted] off a first year Coach-June got rid of about 10 his first year. Bergeron would have been a load at SMU at SMU's glorified FB position. I always thought Overstreet would be better at SS. He's only a redshirt freshman I believe or Soph.

I was surprised to see Bergeron's name pop up. Strong is really swinging the axe in Austin. Sumlin should have cleared house long ago, but he's a bit of a [deleted] and prefers to hang on to bad apples that prove to be an embarrassment.

The Longhorns site says five are out for "rumored" failed drug tests and the 2 accused rapists are out. Plus, two more are under review.

One of the mods joked about UNT having a heck of team soon.

I give Strong credit for trying to send a message however clumsily he may be doing it. I havent followed him closely over his career, but the man seems to already be showing the strain of operating under the magnifying glass at UT. Good news for him is that the Big 12 only has two very strong teams and he doesnt have to play an SEC type schedule or contend with a conference championship game. Bad news is that an early season mis-step here or there and the people who didnt want him here in the first place will make his life difficult.

The dismissals are a bit of an insurance policy. Hopes aren't running too high in Austin anyway and the get tough policy will be spun as a building block for the future. Of course the fallacy of that thinking is that even without the suspended and dismissed players Mack gathered more talent from top to bottom on the roster than anybody else.
