June on ESPN RadioTake a listen......Touches on just about everything. Its obvious he's been given talking points about autonomy, and it's obvious he didn't spend much time memorizing it.

Re: June on ESPN RadioJust who on our campus is versed enough to provide anyone talking points on this subject?
Re: June on ESPN Radiothey aren''t and obviously he wasn't prepared.
Re: June on ESPN RadioMy guess is that everyone has been told to shut up for legal reasons. It sounds to me like the AAC and SMU have committed to playing with the big boys - guaranteeing scholarships and paying the extra support money for athletes. If that is truly the case, the schools will then be able to line up for a class action lawsuit against the NCAA/P5 for collusion or acting as a cartel or something if we have an adequate financial commitment and they continue to exclude us.
Re: June on ESPN RadioHe is probably scared to say anything on autonomy since all of the hate he gets in general. He probably wanted to say "F the P5. BCS stands for big crock of sh**" but instead he has to say "uh hopefully we play well and get considered into that".
Re: June on ESPN RadioCoach Jones did just fine in that interview. Thanks for posting the link.
Re: June on ESPN RadioThank you for the link.
Mr. Jones did a good job on air and so did the ESPN guy. JJ is a good man that is smart. I think he may just not be motivated. Yes, that is a reference to his lack of recruiting over the past 6 years. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: June on ESPN RadioAs I've said before, I think June was a really good coach in his day. I just think he's lost his passion. Maybe the circumstances for this year will present new energy for him. I don't need to see it visibly. I just need to see it on the field.
If he believes this team is the most talented he's fielded at SMU, I'll have to take him at his word. Just hope his QB situation work out because that's where this season will rise or fall.
Re: June on ESPN RadioSolid interview by June. Looks positive towards the schedule and confident we will do fine.
Re: June on ESPN RadioI've got no problem with anything I heard. As for the "motivation" issue, I still think JJ is probably kicking himself after seeing what Larry Brown has been able to accomplish and probably realizes that if he had adopted the same model as Brown, things may have been very different. When Jones was hired, it was a major accomplishment for SMU and he had a huge name. An aggressive staff could have lured talent and JJ could have been a great closer...at least that's my opinion. Too late now

Re: June on ESPN Radiohe is certainly stumbling and bumbling around that question. I am really surprised these guys still ask him for interviews. Tim Brando, etc etc.
Re: June on ESPN Radioit's because he's nationally recognized for reviving programs. If only the locals were capable of doing the same.
Re: June on ESPN Radio
I think he still has a good reputation even with the local media. Look at the PR he put out when he was in contract negotiations. Really wish he had done things a little different here at SMU. He really could have built something. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower

A couple of good years at Hawaii and a couple of better than average years at SMU........... Peruna is my mascot!
